En la actualidad, Europa está inmersa en una carrera hacia la sociedad del conocimiento. En este contexto, España precisa aumentar, agilizar y dinamizar su sistema de Ciencia y Tecnología. Por este motivo, nos gustaría que en las mesas redondas previstas en este encuentro se discutan y propongan soluciones a varios de los obstáculos que pueden impedir ese desarrollo, tales como la falta de sistemas de contratación y consolidación de investigadores, así como la ausencia de mecanismos de apoyo y fomento de nuevos grupos de investigación competitivos.

The National Association of Ramón y Cajal researchers is the meeting point of researchers in Universities, National Labs and other centers which have been hired under the competitive Spanish-goverment-sponsored Ramón y Cajal programme, which was heralded as the start of a tenure-track system in Spain. Nowadays Europe is immersed in a race towards a kowledge-based economy. In this context, Spain must increase the size of its science and technology establishment, as well as make it more dynamic and competitive. In this meeting we want to discuss and propose solutions to the various obstacles which could prevent this achievement, such as the lack of competitive hiring systems and hiring practices, and the lack of support to new research groups.
