Research topics at LOMAHere we provide a bried introduction to some of the research lines at LOMA. The research lines at the LOMA comprise both specific work done at the lab, and collaborations both with the CMAM (Center for Microanalysis of Materials), the surface physics group at the UAM (LASUAM) and with groups with Low Energy Electron Microscopes (K. F. McCarty at Sandia National Labs and A. K. Schmid at Berkeley Nationa Lab). This group was started at the end of 2002, and the equipment is getting ready to run. The main theme of the research at LOMA is basic studies of material science on thin films and surfaces. We perform mostly structural studies, and put strong emphasis on getting an understanding of dynamics at both surfaces and thin films. To such end, we employ both a Scanning Tunneling Microscope which is home-built, and Low Energy Electron Microscopes through collaborations (and hopefully with an instrument that has been requested through the Universidad Autonoma de Madrid)
